Model S 600A has a pole change 2-speed motor and 8 spindle speeds obtained by means of sliding gears. Controlled by two speed selector levers. Speeds may be changed without stopping the machine. Drilling capacity in steel up to 1 1/2. The provision of automatic power feed to spindle ensures the maximum utility of these drilling machines for maintenance work in the repair shop, and also for the toolroom, where rapid changes of drill sizes are required. For production work, the two rates of power feed facilitate work and ensure efficient output.
The machines are normally supplied with spindle speeds as listed in the table and with power feed as standard equipment. On request, however, they may be supplied with higher or lower spindle speed ranges, and without power feed to spindle.
Standard machines are furnished with two rates of power feed, i.e. coarse and fine corresponding to .004" and .007" per rev. of spindle. The power feed is automatically disengaged when the pre-set drilling depth is reached.
The model S 600A is supplied with motor for standard 3-phase Alternating Current supplies of standard voltages. Precise details of the supply voltage must be stated on the order, to ensure that the correct type of starters are fitted in the factory.
Motor is of special design, Vertically mounted directly above the gearbox. with pole change 2 speed motor. The standard equipment includes the provision of a starfer furnished with thermal overload protection for the motor.
Gearbox. Speed changes may be made with machine running, but not under load. Gears are generated by most modern processes and, being furnished with shaved teeth, ensure quiet and smooth operation of the machine.
Drill spindle is mounted in ball and roller bearings, furnished with adjustment. Spindle drill is equipped with return spring with adjustable tension.
Drill head and table support arm. Both units may be raised and lowered on the column by crankoperated worms and racks. The drill head and the drilling table may be rotated 360 ? around the column. They are furnished with single-lever coordinated clamping arrangement.
Column is of cast iron precision ground. It is of mossive construction and furnished with internal cast ribs. .
MODEL S 600B is of similar design to S600A but with rectangular table 20 x 16 " . As standard the machine is delivered with a table with Tee slot and oil channel. |
